Artist Statement

I create abstract collages from the autobiographical ephemera of everyday life. Likewise I create collages from the private domain of letters and journals, recombining the written word with an abstract visual language, the tension inherent between the two. The viewer is guided through the assembled material by its internal logic, regardless of whether that material is ubiquitous or of a private matter now exposed. The reconstituted material frequently evokes circuitry or knotted and entwined geometrics - choked and claustrophobic spaces on the verge of exploding.
